Who is this program suitable for?

Imagine, Build, Belong is designed for children and teenagers aged 4–18 years, across a wide range of abilities.
It is especially supportive for children working on independence, confidence, flexible thinking, teamwork and social skills.
We welcome children with diverse developmental profiles, including those with intellectual, physical, sensory, communication, learning or attention differences.
If you’re unsure whether this program is the right fit for your child, please get in touch — we are always happy to chat.

Who facilitates the program?

This program will be facilitated by qualified Occupational Therapists and Occupational Therapy Assistants under Occupational Therapy clinical supervision.

Our Senior Occupational Therapist, Danielle McFarlane, is a Certified Facilitator of LEGO® Based Therapy and has designed this program to combine this evidence informed play-based practice with real-world Occupational Therapy intervention.

Do children need to be current Enhanced Life clients to join?

No — this program is open to all Northern Beaches families and surrounding suburbs.

All new families will need to participate in a short Pre-Program Goal Review (Telehealth) to ensure we understand your child's goals, strengths and support needs.
Existing families may also elect to complete a Pre-Program Goal Review for their child.

Can my child receive 1:1 support during the program?

Yes. If your child would benefit from additional support, we can allocate a Support Worker from Enhanced Life Support Services to attend alongside them.
Families are also welcome to bring their own Support Worker if preferred.

How big is the group, and will children be grouped by age or ability?

Our groups are intentionally small — typically 9 participants with 3 staff (1:3 ratio).
We may also form smaller subgroups during the program based on age, confidence, interests or support needs, ensuring every child gets the most out of their experience.

Does my child need a diagnosis to attend?

No. Children do not require a diagnosis to participate. The program is suitable for children with a range of strengths, interests and support needs. Our team will discuss your child's goals and support requirements prior to the program to ensure the group is a good fit.

My child can be anxious in new groups. Will they be supported?

Absolutely. We understand that joining a new group can feel overwhelming. Our therapists provide individualised support, scaffolding and regulation strategies to help participants feel safe, comfortable and successful. Children are never forced to participate and are supported at their own pace.

Will my child receive individual therapeutic support?

Yes. While this is a group-based program, our small group ratio enables therapists provide individualised support, coaching and therapeutic scaffolding throughout the intensive to ensure each participant can engage meaningfully.

Can siblings or friends attend together?

Absolutely. Many children feel more confident attending with a sibling, cousin or friend, and we are more than happy to support this.

Can NDIS funding be used?

For many participants, this program may be claimed through NDIS Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living funding where appropriate. We recommend discussing this with your Plan Manager, Support Coordinator or NDIS representative if you are unsure.

Are snacks provided?

Yes. Organic, child-friendly snacks are provided during regulation and social snack breaks. Please let us know about any allergies, dietary requirements or food preferences during registration.

What should my child bring?

Participants should bring a water bottle, wear comfortable clothing and enclosed shoes, and be ready to have fun.

All LEGO®, materials, resources, activities and snacks are provided.
