Food, Function & Regulation is designed and delivered by our Paediatric Occupational Therapy team in collaboration with a Clinical Nutritionist & Naturopath. Together, they they will provide information and strategies for families about how we interact with food and the impact on behaviour and development.
There will also be time allocated for Q&A with Danielle McFarlane (Founder, Director & Senior Occupational Therapist at Enhanced Life) and Dr. Natalie Dalton (Founder, Director, Clinical Nutritionist & Naturopath at TherapyWorks) for families to have their questions answered.

Who is this parent evening suitable for?
This session is ideal for parents and carers of children who experience picky eating, restricted diets, sensory sensitivities, emotional dysregulation, sleep challenges, ADHD, ASD or gut-related concerns. It is also valuable for families who simply want to better understand the connection between food, behaviour and development. Educators and other professionals who are interested in learning more about how food can influence behaviour and regulation are also very welcome to attend.

Do I need to have major food concerns to attend?
Not at all. Whether your child is a selective eater or you are simply curious about how nutrition impacts regulation, learning and the bod. This evening will provide practical insights you can apply immediately at home.

Is this event appropriate for children to attend?
This session is designed for adults so that parents can engage fully in the content and discussion. We recommend arranging care where possible.
For those attending our Cook, Create, Connect program, if you are unable to get care for your child we can arrange a Support Worker for you.

Can this be claimed through the NDIS?
Yes. The evening is NDIS claimable under Capacity Building – Improved Daily Living. It can also be accessed via private funding. If you are unsure how to process this, our admin team can assist.

Absolutely. Families will receive clear, easy-to-implement strategies, simple food swaps and practical tools to reduce mealtime stress and support regulation at home.

Will my individual child’s situation be discussed?
While we cannot provide personalised clinical advice in a group setting, there will be a Q&A session where you can ask general questions. If further individual support is needed, we can guide you toward appropriate follow-up services.
